Devices supported

The first step when choosing which device to use is to select the direct download option in the LuckGrib application settings download area, and then to choose the device you want. This is a sample of that interface from the Mac product:

If you have a satellite phone with a data plan, it can most likely be connected to the Optimizer and then used by LuckGrib.

Note that if you have a StarLink device and are using it to connect to LuckGrib, you will not need to use this Offshore Data service. StarLink is super fast. While using StarLink, you should download data through the high speed internet option in the app.

Also, note the warnings (as of 02/25) on the StarLink site about the limitations of their roaming option. There are currently warnings about using StarLink on the Ocean, away from your home country for more than a few months, etc. This should not be considered advice, but if using StarLink, you may want to evaluate whether having a backup device and data plan is warranted.

Lastly, note that the StarLink service is evolving rapidly, and any Ocean limitations may have been removed since this note was written. Please do your own due diligence.
